About

Legal work done properly, in three languages.

Filippi Legal Consultancy provides clear, carefully reasoned legal support to individuals and businesses in England and Wales, in English, Portuguese and Italian. Every matter is defined in writing from the outset, including what the work covers, what it costs and where its limits lie.

Our story

Having qualified in law in England after an earlier career in engineering, and having navigated the UK legal system as a Portuguese speaker, Kim Filippi founded Filippi Legal Consultancy to serve two groups the legal market overlooks: small businesses priced out of good advice, and multilingual communities handling their hardest problems in an unfamiliar language.

The consultancy answers both needs. It provides contract drafting and review, AML and data protection compliance, ongoing business support, information on international legal processes and legal translation, delivered fluently in English, Portuguese and Italian, with fees agreed in writing before work begins.

"Clients deserve to know what their options are, what the work will cost, and what falls outside it. That clarity is the foundation of good legal support."

How the consultancy works

The practice is run to the standards expected of a regulated environment, drawing on direct experience of regulatory compliance. Conflict checks, identity verification, full file records and a formal complaints procedure apply to every matter, alongside a written engagement letter, professional indemnity insurance, and no client money held on account.

Scope of services

Filippi Legal Consultancy operates as an unregulated legal services provider. It is not a firm of solicitors and is not authorised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Work is confined to legal services that do not require authorisation, and the following are not offered:

  • Reserved legal activities are not carried out, including the conduct of litigation and rights of audience reserved to regulated lawyers.
  • Immigration advice and immigration services are not provided in any form.
  • Where a matter requires a regulated professional, this is identified at the outset and an appropriate referral is made.

Looking ahead

The consultancy is built to grow, with additional services planned as the practice develops. Its current scope is set out above.

How we work

Three commitments, every matter.

Three commitments apply to every instruction, from a short document review to an ongoing retainer.

Read our complaints procedure

01

Clarity

Plain words, a defined scope and fees agreed in writing. If advice cannot be explained to a friend after reading it, it is not finished.

02

Realism

A frank assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of a position, even when it is not what the client hoped to hear, and an early referral where a matter calls for a regulated professional.

03

Community

Serious legal support for Portuguese and Italian-speaking communities in the UK, in their own languages, because access to justice should not depend on your English.

Get in touch

Every matter begins with a conversation.
